BBL Hero in Pittsburgh
Broadband light, evolved. Not a laser but a filtered spectrum, tuned to whichever pigment or vessel is causing the problem and delivered fast enough to cover large areas.

Considering BBL?
Book a consultWhat is BBL Hero?
BBL stands for BroadBand Light, and the Hero is the current generation of it. Where a laser emits one wavelength, BBL emits a broad spectrum and then filters it, so the same device can be tuned to target brown pigment on one pass and red vessels on the next.
The energy is absorbed by whatever is darker than the surrounding skin: a sun spot, a broken capillary, the redness of rosacea. That target heats, breaks up, and is cleared by the body over the following days.
The Hero part is speed and cooling. It treats larger areas in less time than earlier BBL systems, which is what makes it practical on a chest, back or arms rather than a face alone.
It is the treatment for skin that reads as blotchy rather than lined, and it is one of the few that is genuinely comfortable to have done over a large area.
Brown spots and freckling from sun exposure, facial redness and visible vessels, and general unevenness of tone. It is a colour treatment rather than a texture or wrinkle treatment.
Face, neck and chest most often, and also hands, arms, back and shoulders. The speed of the Hero system is what makes the larger areas realistic.
Most people describe a quick snap of heat with each pulse, like a rubber band, with the handpiece cooling the skin throughout.
Treated brown spots darken over a day or two before flaking away, which is the sign it worked. Redness usually settles within hours. Most people return to normal activity immediately.
Some skin is lined. Some is just uneven.
Light-based treatment works on contrast. It finds what is darker or redder than the skin around it, heats that, and leaves the rest alone. If your complaint is colour rather than crease, this is the right category of tool, and a resurfacing laser would be the wrong one.
ModelYour problem is colour
Brown spots, freckling, redness or visible vessels rather than lines and texture.
The damage is spread out
Across a face, chest or shoulders rather than concentrated in one lesion. Speed is this device's advantage.
You need minimal downtime
Treated spots darken and flake over several days, but there is no shedding phase and most people go straight back to normal.
You will stay out of the sun
A tan changes the contrast the device relies on and raises the risk. Treatment is scheduled away from sun exposure in both directions.
Your skin type has been assessed
Light-based treatment behaves differently on different skin tones, which is a conversation to have before booking rather than on the day.

Wherever the sunhas kept score.
BBL treats damage where it accumulates, and that is not only the face. Neck, chest, shoulders, arms, hands and back are all on the menu; the three zones below are simply where most people start.

Five questions we are askedabout broadband light.
A laser emits a single wavelength. BBL emits a broad spectrum and filters it to whatever the target is, which means one device can address brown pigment and red vessels in the same appointment by changing the filter rather than the machine.
Most people describe a brief snap of heat with each pulse, similar to a rubber band flicked against the skin, and the handpiece cools continuously. It is generally well tolerated without numbing.
That is the treatment working. Pigment that has absorbed the energy rises toward the surface, darkens over a day or two, and then flakes away. It is temporary and expected.
It depends on how much accumulated damage there is. Some people see what they wanted from one; a series is common for significant sun damage or persistent redness. Your provider gives you a realistic number after assessing your skin.
It starts at $515 a session for the face, with the décolletage at $565 and the arms at $590. Packages of three run from $1285 to $1420 by area, and your consultation sets the exact figure before anything is booked.
