Pulses measured in trillionths of a second. Fast enough to shatter pigment mechanically rather than burn it out, which is why the surface of your skin is left completely alone.

What is PicoWay Resolve?

Discoloration is a build-up of pigment particles sitting in the skin. Older lasers cleared them with heat, which works but affects the tissue around the target as well.

PicoWay delivers energy in picosecond pulses, each one lasting a trillionth of a second. At that speed the effect is mechanical rather than thermal: the pigment is shattered into particles small enough for your body to carry away, with far less heat spreading into the surrounding skin.

It is also fractional, so it treats a targeted portion of the area and leaves healthy skin between the treated zones. That untouched skin is what drives the quick healing, and the same energy prompts new collagen underneath.

The outer layer of skin is left intact throughout. That is the reason this treatment carries effectively no downtime while still doing real work below the surface.

Because it is fractional, untreated skin sits between the treated zones and does the repairing. Recovery is measured in hours rather than days.

The surface is never broken. Expect some redness that settles quickly, and normal activity immediately afterwards.

The picosecond mechanism clears pigment more efficiently than heat-based alternatives, which generally means a shorter course to reach the same place.

Less heat means less risk of the pigment changes that thermal lasers can cause in deeper skin tones, which widens who can safely be treated.

Shattered, not burned. That is the difference.

A conventional laser heats pigment until it breaks down, and some of that heat reaches the skin around it. A picosecond pulse is over before meaningful heat can spread, so the pigment is broken apart mechanically. Less collateral heat is what makes this safer across more skin tones.

  • You have unwanted pigment

Dark spots, patches and general discoloration from sun or from time, which is what this clears most directly.

  • You want texture improved too

The same energy prompts collagen underneath, so tone and texture improve alongside the pigment clearing.

  • You cannot take downtime

The outer layer is never broken. Redness settles quickly and there is no shedding phase to plan around.

  • Thermal lasers concern you

Lower heat makes this a more comfortable option for skin tones where heat-based treatment carries more pigment risk.

  • Your skin has been assessed

Which pigment responds, and how many sessions it will take, is decided by looking at your skin rather than by category.

Unwanted pigment is particles sitting where your body cannot clear them, and sun exposure decides where they accumulate. The picosecond pulse shatters them small enough to finally be carried away.

Five questions we are askedabout PicoWay.

Each pulse lasts a trillionth of a second. That speed is the entire point: the energy shatters pigment mechanically before heat has time to spread into the tissue around it, which is what makes it gentler than heat-based alternatives.

Close to none. The outer layer of skin is left intact, so there is no shedding phase. Expect redness that settles quickly and a return to normal activity the same day.

IPL floods an area with broadband light and works well on surface colour across large areas. PicoWay is fractional and targeted, using ultra-short pulses to break up pigment more precisely while stimulating collagen. They solve overlapping problems by different means.

Generally fewer than heat-based alternatives, but the number depends on how much pigment there is and how deep it sits. Your provider gives you a realistic figure at consultation.

A single treatment is $500, and a package of three is $1450. The consultation confirms the plan and the figure before anything is scheduled.
