Intense pulsed light is not a laser. A laser is one wavelength; IPL is a broad band of them, filtered down to whichever range the target absorbs best. That flexibility is why a single device handles problems as different as brown pigment and red vessels.
The energy passes harmlessly through clear skin and is absorbed by anything darker or redder than its surroundings. That target heats, the damaged tissue breaks down, and your body clears it over the days that follow.
It is often called a photo facial, and the list of what it improves is unusually long: age and sun spots, unwanted freckling, facial redness and broken capillaries, discoloured scarring, blotchiness, hyperpigmentation and enlarged pores.

That is the treatment working. Pigment that absorbed the energy rises toward the surface, darkens over a day or two, and flakes away. It is expected and temporary.
